The almighty Apple iPod has a new competitor - Microsoft Zune media player. You should have seen it coming - Bill was not willing to let his old friend Steve monopolize a market. This thing is supposed to Microsoft. Of course, the iPod is up to its irreducible domain now very skilled, but not the first time Microsoft has done a final challenge - the Playstation was at its peak when both the top and now Xbox 360 has the advantage over Sony's PS3. The point is that Microsoft is not a company to be neglected, and media player that offers more interesting to watch.
As a direct competitor to the iPod video 30 GB, plays music, videos and photos of the proceedings. On the surface, my Zune is smooth to the touch and well packed and much stronger - harder to scratch and dirt. It's a little bigger and a little wider than (justified in part by a 3 ", 4:3 LCD screen compared to the iPod 2.5" - the biggest screen was a bonus), but much heavier - more than the iPod unit 80.
What is the battery, my Zune can not play music videos 12 hours and about 3.5 hours, each with a single charge. It takes about 2-3 hours to fully charge iPods and the like, do not come with charger, you have to do it via USB.
The Zune does not come with a manual - everything is pretty common sense. The light reveals a color selection menu animated delivery and full of energy, moving left or right on the touch pad switches between artists, playlists, and album titles, and was quick and painless problems.
The important thing to note that the Zune software is Windows XP, as well as dealing with MAC OS, Windows 98 or Linux.
Files supported are MP3, MP4, MOV, WMV and JPEG, but because it uses a newer version of WMA-DRM does not work with the tracks at stores such as Napster :..... The video and audio quality is good expectably, definitely comparable to an iPod, and it slipped through my 15GB of songs without problems - there was little annoying pause the iPod suffers.
Its most distinctive feature is probably the users of WiFi, so you can share media with other Zune users nearby, and shared tracks are easily stored in a separate folder so you do not mix. It's okay for now, but still very limited - songs last three days or three plays, whichever comes first, and only works with other Zunes. On the positive side, however, never expire and photo sharing can be added the Zune with the Xbox 360 to replace the music tracks to play, what seems to be repetitive and boring at times.
So if you buy the Zune? It is slightly thicker, and market failure in that it has no videos to Zune large screen on the slopes 2MIL 3.5 million compared to Apple. But on the positive side, it is more rustic and fits nicely in your hand, it has excellent performance audio and video quality, its media up / download software on the market and is user friendly and the big screen is simply magnificent. I would say it about a 8 out of 10 in my book, and to consider anyone not a fanatic iPod.
