A few years ago, I met some Japanese tourists who spoke littleEnglish. The English, who know the songs Beatles.Although was not very practical in everyday communication ithighlighted the way I absorb information andmelody pace. If this information to other media such as rhymes and contemporary music and the hard work placedwith learninginformation nice and dry can be subliminal, even. The advertisingindustry used this for many decades.
The owner is a large chain of English schools in Brazil suggested to me that adultcontemporary pop songs whose lyrics included the areas focused ofgrammar would be very useful for ESL students. The concept of aid usingsongs teaching / learning of English is not new. When studied in this field, I noticed that the songs are available eitheraimed children, or the standard songs, with the only real "learningbenefit English" is that they are composed in English.
Overthe last two years I have been writing songs that contain a grammaticalfocus in his words. Covering areas such verbs asirregular difficult grammatical and prepositions.
Case study
Visit here to see the youtube video below texts Tutortunes choir that focuses on irregular verbs.
Irregular verbs song (chorus)
Every place we were, every song we sang,
All the struggle we have fought, every race he ran,
Every time we have lost our way, we find a path that leads through.
Everyone is afraid, we felt that every penny we have grown,
Every word we said, every thought we have known
Everything we have done and everything we do,
Tie a part of me that part of you.
If you can learn the words of this chorus in 11 IrregularVerbs learned form the past participle. The song actually contains verbs 21irregular sung in all contexts of all three forms (and past participle presentpast .. then a student can learn advanced theentire song (song is a very advanced), not only learntthe three verb forms 21 irregular, but can also be applied in aphrase.
This knowledge is recalled learntin a different material "studied" manner. Think how difficult it is to remember the exact words, but Astory how easy it is to keep them in a song. I suggest the words presented att adult contemporary "catchy" pop songs (as opposed to children's music) will help ESL students absorb areasof English grammar that are illogical, such as irregular verbs in a fun and entertaining.
